All (crafty) creatures great and small

I first met Michelle, who runs the successful local company The Crafty Foxes, through my photography work for Bury in Bloom. We got chatting at the Anglia in Bloom judging day where she had a stall, and we agreed that I would take some pictures of one of her workshops which she could use to promote her business.  The Crafty Foxes runs both children and adult workshops in and around Suffolk, with the idea of making something crafty (and finishing it!) within a two-hour timeframe.

Bury in Bloom are running a ‘crafty creature’ competition over the summer for children to create their own crafty creature containers from recycled packaging and to choose a plant to go in it. Michelle decided to put on a free workshop in Bury St Edmunds Abbey Gardens in July for families to come along and craft an entry for the competition. Fifteen families turned up on a thankfully dry day and had an absolute ball, with the parents seeming to enjoy themselves as much as the children – I think we all went back to our Blue Peter days!

Michelle had brought along all sorts of accessories and some amazing creatures resulted, including a zebra, a uni-pig (just love the imagination in that one!), a dinosaur and a fox. All the creatures made went forward into the competition which will be judged at the beginning of September.

It was such a fun photoshoot and the kids were absolutely awesome. It’s days like this when I realise how much I enjoy my photography!

If you live in or around Suffolk and your children fancy having a go at making something crafty, I thoroughly recommend The Crafty Foxes workshops, they are really well organised, safe and above all fun. Not forgetting the adults either as Michelle runs two-hour craft workshops and parties to make items such as lampshades, silver jewellery and candles. Looking for ideas for a hen party, a retirement do or a team-building event? Michelle’s your lady. Do check out The Crafty Foxes website and their Facebook page.

A few of my images from the morning can be found below.

If you are hosting an workshop or event, however big or small, and would like some photographs to record the day, please get in touch. Maybe the people taking part would like a lasting memory of the fun they had. Perhaps you’d like some photographs to promote or advertise your future events. If you think I can help at all, I’d love to hear from you.
