Celebrating 2018

As we step into 2019 I, like many others, like to look back on the past year and reflect.

Once again I’ve been invited to photograph a number of weddings, events, families and parties this year, many at stunning venues.  This is a part of photography that I truly enjoy and I’ve met some lovely people, made some new friends and had a lot of laughter along the way.  A big thank you to everyone who has entrusted me with capturing their special moments; you were all awesome and it was both an enormous pleasure and a huge privilege.

I’ve been passionate about horses since I was a child so it didn’t come as a surprise to those who know me that a new area for my business last year was a step into equestrian photography.   I’m proud to be the official photographer at Topthorn Arena, one of the leading venues in East Anglia, and I will also be out and about photographing at other local shows in 2019 when time permits.  Once again I’ve made some new friends and it’s been great to talk ‘horse’ with like-minded people as well as see some fabulous horses and riders in action.  As well as covering equestrian events I also offer private shoots where I will create a lifestyle portrait of you and your horse for you to treasure.

I consider myself very lucky to be able to do what I love for a living so I feel that it is really important that I give something back to the community.  I’m very proud to volunteer as a photographer on an ongoing basis for two local organisations – Bury in Bloom and Bury St Edmunds Guildhall – as well as providing ad-hoc voluntary photographic support to a number of local organisations, including the Dementia Hub, Age UK Suffolk and East Anglian Air Ambulance. I am also pleased to be making donations from image sales to Topthorn Arena’s nominated charity Home-Start.

Finally I mustn’t forget those who have supported me over the past year.  First thanks must go to my long-suffering husband who I’m sure at times thinks he’s living in a photographic studio, but who provides me with smiles, valuable advice and ideas.  A big thank you also goes out to those people who have assisted me on shoots as well as to those who are not a visible part of my business but who have supported me steadfastly in the background by listening, suggesting and advising as well as gently keeping me on the straight and narrow and feeding me coffee and cake when needed.

To wrap up 2018 I’ve picked out a few of my favourite images from the thousands that I’ve shot over the last twelve months. As you can imagine, selecting just eleven to represent the year has been incredibly difficult so the images that I have chosen are ones that have stuck in my mind, more often than not for emotive reasons.

I hope you’ve enjoyed following this blog and reading about what I’ve been up to over the past year.  If you are looking for high-quality, professional images of your wedding, celebration, or corporate or charity event, or would like to book a family or equine photoshoot please get in touch; I’d love to hear from you.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!
